Dr. Grzegorz W. Basak (MD, PhD) is an associate professor of medicine, Head of the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Internal Medicine, Central Clinical Hospital, Medical University of Warsaw. Specialist in internal medicine, hematology, and clinical transplantation. Chair of the Transplant Complications Working Party, European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Owner and medical director of Saventic, an artificial intelligence company. Obtained his PhD in 2005 from Medical University of Warsaw. Research of Dr. Basak extended from preclinical animal models of tumor immunotherapy, through stem cell research to clinical studies in the field of hematology and hematopoietic cell transplantation. His current studies focus mainly on complications of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation, especially graft versus host disease and the major breakthrough project regarded identification of fecal microbiota transplantation as a strategy leading to the elimination of gut-colonizing antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
